WW2 Cooking.


Year 6 have been learning all about rationing and how it had such an impact on the meals people were able to eat during the war. As each adult had a ration of one egg per week, we decided to make a typical eggless sponge cake to see what it would taste like. It was actually delicious. The children worked in groups independently, following the recipe. Lots of skills were involved including: teamwork, reading and following instructions and weighing and measuring ingredients. We finished with a ‘Bake Off’ style taste test, with Mr Clark as our judge.
